BPCC - NEW PROGRAMS

BOSSIER CITY - Associate of Science in Health Care Management

Bossier Parish Community College and the Division of Innovative Learning recognize the rapid growth of the healthcare industry and the increasing demand for qualified personnel in the Health Care Management professions. In addition, we also recognize that students have busy schedules, various career goals, and desire options when selecting a program. Therefore, the Associate of Science in Health Care Management is delivered in an accelerated online format with two concentrations for potential graduates: the Professional Practice Concentration for students who desire immediate entry-level managerial positions within the healthcare industry and the Health Studies Concentration for students who plan to pursue admission to a baccalaureate program.

Students receiving the Associate of Science in Health Care Management (Health Studies Concentration) can transfer all required course work completed at BPCC within that concentration to partially fulfill degree requirements for specified options of the University of Louisiana at Monroe's Bachelor of Science in Health Studies. (up to 57 credit hours from this concentration).

Northwestern - NEW PROGRAMS

NATCHITOCHES - Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Concentration in Substance Abuse

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Concentration in Substance Abuse has acted to increase awareness and recognition of the services provided on a daily basis by those professionals employed in addictions treatment throughout the State of Louisiana, nationally, and internationally. Regardless of the path you end up taking toward achieving your career goals, take the time to learn about the work of a treatment professional. There is a great satisfaction in making a difference in another person's life. As an addictions professional, you will be presented with that opportunity every day.

The CALL Substance Abuse concentration at Northwestern State University is intended for Psychology majors and other human services degree-seeking students. The required multi-disciplinary courses within the concentration meet the minimum educational requirements for certification or licensure as directed by the State of Louisiana Addictive Disorders Regulatory Authority. The courses also can be taken for professionals that are credentialed as a substance abuse professional as part of their continuing educational requirements.

McNeese - NEW PROGRAM

LAKE CHARLES - Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences Family and Child Studies Concentration

CALL programs are instituted by the Board of Regents of the University of Louisiana System, and implemented by University Campuses across the State of Louisiana. A selected number of degree programs in the State are selected to be part of the CALL initiative. The Family & Child Studies degree program at McNeese State University is one of the newest programs offered through CALL. Classes are on-line and are offered in an accelerated format to allow flexibility to non-traditional students who have job and family commitments and therefore have difficulty attending classroom sessions during the regular work day.

On-line courses allow you to access class information and assignments at a time convenient to you. CALL classes are offered in quarter sessions. This means that instead of the regular 16 week long semester course, classes will be taught in 8 week sessions. For example, if you wish to take 4 classes in a semester, instead of taking all 4 classes all semester long, you will take 2 classes at a time, during an 8 week session. At the end of those 8 weeks, you will follow up with another 2 classes for the remaining 8 weeks in the regular semester. You can take as many courses as you can successfully handle in the time available to you. Advisors are available and accessible to help guide you through your class selection process and for general advising during your time in the program.

You may pursue your BS Degree or your Associate's degree with a concentration in Family & Child Studies. Many State, Non-profit, Faith-based and Private agencies need specialists in Family & Child Studies to work in services such as: Adoption and Foster Care; Child Care & Day Care; Child Protection; Children & Youth Services; Extension Programs; Family Support Services; Parenting Education; Headstart; Community Family Services; Juvenile Justice; Programs for the Disabled; Services for the Elderly; Social & Recreational Development; Social Welfare. A Bachelor's degree qualifies you for jobs in Family Service Agencies, Projects and Departments, and Private Sector Employee Services. Jobs include: Case Worker, Case Manager, Child Care Manager or Supervisor, Family Advocate; Family Group Counselor; Headstart Provider, Teacher or Manager, Parent Educator, or Youth worker. You may also be self-employed in home-based Day-Care services. An Associate degree qualifies you to be a Headstart aide or Family Services Aide for senior citizens or the disabled.
